RPM Daily interview with James Bell from Intellichoice
In 2005 GM stared down bankruptcy and didn't blink. The company lost 10.6 BLN that year and lived to tell about it. Now the company seems to be turning the corner with good-looking product and a lot of it.

Join RPM Daily for an interview with Intellichoice Publisher James Bell.

Chevy Volt Concept

RPM Daily interviews GM Chevy Volt Director
The Chevy Volt is an amazing vehicle. It has no transmission, the engine only acts as a generator for the electric battery, and it averages about 150 MPG. That's a big jump into the future for the General, and this technology just might be something we'll see on the road, and sooner than you might think.

lf-a

Lexus LF-A Concept

Lexus at NAIAS: Success again (RPM Daily Video)
Product is king in the auto business and right now nobody is doing it better than the Toyota Corporation. Success is almost boring them as now they're toying with the smash-hit formula of their Lexus division.

At NAIAS there were not one but two Lexus models unveiled... the IS-F, which goes into prodution in 2008, and the second take on the LF-A concept of a year ago. Take a look at the RPM Daily take on Lexus at the 2007 NAIAS.

2008 Dodge Avenger

Dodge Avenger to the rescue!!! Maybe
DCX's Dodge brand unveiled the 2008 Avenger at the NAIAS. The press conference was the most docile of all the Chrysler-brand intros but team Dodge brought out all their Nascar heros for the unveiling... That's cool if you like that sort of thing. Elliot Sadler and Kurt Busch are heros to many and the new Dodge Nextel Cup car was in the video below.

Check out the Dodge press conference.

Ford Sync Display

Ford/Microsoft Sync demonstration video
The marketplace has more competition than ever and every automaker is doing their best to differentiate themselves.

Beginning this fall Ford will have the Sync multimedia Blue-Tooth interface to differentiate itself. It will interact with your blue-tooth phone, iPod, and more. Check out the demonstration video here.

Volvo XC60 Concept

Ford's PAG group unveils XC60, LR2 and C-XF.
Ford Motor Company put their best foot forward with the PAG brand... it was a good showing except for the Volvo exec saying that the XC60 front end looked like a giant I Pod. Lame.

Check out the RPM Daily Press footage with the XC60 and C-XF unveilings along with another look at the LR2.

Second LX-F Concept

Lexus is shedding boring luxury for something cooler
Luxury and Lexus go together like peanut butter and jelly in the US, and it has for some time. Now that we know what to expect from the luxury marquee, they're throwing the ole knuckle ball. Now they're going to blow your Corvettes doors off with two great products... they introduced the LF-A concept and the ready for production in early 08 IS-F.

Check out the RPM Daily press video.

Chrysler Nassau

Jeep Trailhawk, Chrysler Nassau show DCX still has it
Two good looking Chrysler-brand concepts graced the NAIAS floor on the second day of the press preview. Both the Trailhawk and Nassau look great... unfortunately the video here isn't the best... I had to shoot hand-held between executive bodyguards. It was a long press conference also.

Anyway, here it is

2008 Cadillac CTS

Cadillac NAIAS press video with CTS Reveal
We can finally say that we know what the 2008 CTS looks like. There has been more written about this vehicle over the past year than perhaps any vehicle. The Caddy design team discusses the vehicle in great detail.

2008 Accord Coupe

Honda NAIAS press video and Accord preview
Honda's press conference at the most influential auto show on the planet gave the world the first glimpse at the 2008 Accord Coupe. It's a hotty to say the least.

Check out the video here.

Mazda Concept

New Mazda concept is GROOVY
Mazda is on a mission to show off their new design language going forward over the next few months. Each concept going forward will be less crazy than the last. This second concept is still pretty whacked.

Go to the video section to check out the video from the Mazda Press Conference.

Fields with Focus

Ford takes day one with a slew of new reveals
The media has been all over this autoshow since about the beginning of December. Embargos have been lifted left and right, and Ford has seen plenty of unplanned media reveals over the past few weeks.

The Blue Oval did have a few tricks up the family sleeve. Namely, the 2008 Focus and Five Hundred. Both vehicles looked terrific. Here are the videos:

Bill Ford and Alan Mulally (Ford Five Hundred too)

Jay Mays (with new Interceptor and Air Stream)

Mark Fields (Focus, Sync)

and Peter Horbury (with MKR)

2007 Saturn Aura

Would you look at that, GM went and won it all
At the 2007 NAIAS something happened that nobody thought would ever happen again... GM SWEPT car and truck of the year honors. The surprise winner Saturn Aura was joined on the podium by the run-away killer favorite Chevy Silverado.

The press votes on these things so don't go accusing anyone of Detroit Bias. View the video of the award presentation.

New DCX Minivans

New DCX Minivans prove that bread/butter are good
For Toyota, they have the Camry. Ford has the F-Series, GM has the Silverado, and Honda has the Accord. For the DCX Chrysler division, nothing is more important than minivans.

Chrysler is defending their sales leadership in a big way with the new Caravan and Town and Country. These are by far the nicest looking and most configurable vehicles I've ever seen. Check out the great minivans and the cheesy as heck shtick right here on rpmdaily.com. Check it out.
